We offer our employees a little equity in the company after a year. What do you do the attract talent and keep ‘em around?

    Listen to Reed Hastings:
"Great workplace is stunning colleagues. Great workplace is not espresso, lush benefits, sushi lunches, grand parties or nice offices. We do some of these things, but only if they are efficient at attracting and retaining stunning colleagues.”

Literally the best retainer you have is to hire great people.

Work-life balance aka flexible hours/days to choose from! As long as the work is done with accuracy, shouldn’t matter in how many hours or days I get it done!

Coverage for anti-obesity drugs in their health benefits. You’d be surprised how much of an incentive this is for a large amount of employees and their spouses.

We’re a small chocolatier. I make lunch for my staff nearly every day. We sit, eat, and chat. No one’s forced to take part, but they always do.

Start with the premise that work sucks and 99.9% of people don’t want to be working for you instead of thinking that your business is the end all/be all and the little dead end jobs you have are supposed to be wonderful.

How do you do the equity split? Do you issue shares to the employees that they have full ownership rights over? If they exit after a couple of years, do they keep those shares?

if i can do my job to your standard remotely literally working 20 hours a week, then there should be no problem.

also please for the love of god set an expectation. in some jobs i don’t care if management has 0 expectation, but if a company is looking to grow or do something impressive, there needs to be an expectation

    1. Profit share
    2. 1 month paid vacation per year.
    3. Unlimited unpaid vacation on approval.
    • Unapproved vacations can lead to termination however. We are a business after all we have a responsibility to our customers.

That is all. We are not big enough to provide healthcare and dental. :/

We offer work from home along with an office working space if anyone wants to use it. A few do who have young families.

We’re trialling a four day week. Nobody calls or answers the phone on a Friday in the industries we deal with, so we’re seeing if the work still gets done without increasing working hours while having Friday off.
