I think that’s the magic of productized services. Much simplified customer experience in exchange for recurring revenue/higher AOV.

By bundling multiple services, ideally you’d lower the final price, which could be a great incentive for existing customers to switch over.

I’m on a similar journey as you and have been researching productized services for over a year. Happy to exchange knowledge with you and see how it turns out!

How specific are you being with the video?

Ideally, you provide creators with a brief with guidelines on things like what phrases to use and anything that could help them (images, hooks), without being specific enough to limit their creativity/creator potential.

Seems like you have an expectations problem, and if you still have 29 days to go and are getting 5 submissions a day, you can just wait and see if it gets better. 80/20.

  • If your stickiness index is over 30% then your app is healthy AF (Daily Active Users/Monthly Active Users).

There are multiple ways to monetize an app:

    • Adsense/Admob or other ad networks.
    • Affiliate links
    • Paid placements from companies in the same industry -> I like this one the most as it’s very flexible and you’re usually paid a performance fee every month.
    • Microtransactions
    • Paid version -> If there’s a feature that would make your users’ lives much better, then go for this, it’s low effort/high reward.

If you can provide more details about the app either through here or DMs I’ll be happy to help.

If you have an ICP lined up and proof of work then the best next step you can take is literally shoot messages at them.

The best mediums to do this are LinkedIn and email as they allow you to be very specific. And as I guess you’re in some sort of tech consultancy, I’d also suggest taking advantage of Crunchbase’s DB.

The actual next step would be preparing for both so whenever someone takes over you can hit the ground running.

For LinkedIn, it’s easy. You only need a strong profile, which shouldn’t be hard considering you come from Microsoft. Then you’d need to find the contacts either using LinkedIn Sales Navigator or another tool.

I wouldn’t recommend going for LinkedIn Ads early on as you’re still figuring this out.

For email, you’ll need to prepare a lot more as you need to set up an alt domain, email accounts, DKIM/SPF/DMARC/Tracking Domain, and warm up the email accounts. Once that’s up you only need to worry about the actual work (writing, sourcing leads, and sending the emails).

Do you already have an app vision?

Me being you, I wouldn’t focus on anything but deeply understanding the problem that you’re trying to solve and how to reach your target audience. Everything else can be replaced by a developer/designer at some point.

Talk to people both competitors and prospects, figure out the distribution dynamics, and then build a prototype of what the app should be like. Once you know the market A-Z and are able to build some momentum/confidence, then commit to a co-founder.

If you don’t have that, I’d find it disrespectful to ask someone to commit their time and energy to your vision.

  • Would it be easier to bring students if you had more/better consultants? Or to bring consultants if you had more students?

Consultants should be more interested in how much traffic you can bring to their doorstep because they already have a platform. A new platform means a new commitment, and if there’s nothing feasible for them then there’s no incentive to do so.
