I run an online fossil shop specializing in shark teeth and other marine fossils. My primary means of promotion is instagram and TikTok. I have been growing in sales, but I’m still struggling to find new unique clients. Any tips for expanding my brand? Thanks

Not a professional, however, think critically. You’re struggling to find clients, but you’re askong how to expand. You shouldn’t expand. Instead, you should work on lead generation and marketing. Understand what your client is, where can you find the client and then rethink your strategy. If you’d as a regular person like me, I’d say I wouldn’t find any shark teeth enthusiasts on TikTok, but I may be wrong.

I agree with this. When I think of people who are into this I think about geologists. My uncle is a geologist and he isn’t on tiktok or insta. He googles though like a mofo and he has a lot of disposable income. Content marketing, SEO, and probably Facebook would be better for you.

Since you’re an online only very niche dealer I would think of selling to dealers with BM shops or larger client bases. Or expand to other kinds of fossils. Are you exhibiting at any of the rock hound/fossil shows?

For Insta and TikTok, mixing it up with educational bits about shark teeth, some behind-the-scenes peeks, and customer stories can really draw people in. Don’t forget top-notch pics of those fossils too. SEO-wise, make sure your website is using those niche keywords like ‘paleontology’ to catch the right eyes. Boost App Social could be a nifty tool here for spicing up your social media posts.

Also, ever thought of starting a blog? Dropping some fascinating fossil facts could boost your site’s SEO and keep folks coming back.

Collaborating with museums or schools could be a neat move too.
