I am photographer and have a client who I shot product pictures with. He called me right after the shoot that he needs the pictures asap. It was Friday. I told him it will be done within a week because I have another projects to finish and this one is in a queue. Then he texted me he needs just a few within 3 days and I replied that he needs to pay extra if he needs express delivery.

I received loooong message about how this is not right, he doesn’t have budget and how could I even ask for extra money from him. I explained to him, it’s normal practice and I already provided everything he paid for and this is something extra.

Then I sent him preview he was supposed to choose 10 pictures from and he said ironically if I can advise him which pictures are good or if it’s for extra charge too. Also he keeps telling me details about his low budget that are irrelevant for me.

How would you continue communication with such a client?

    Always set the proof/delivery timeline and expedite fees up front. Solves this problem before it starts.

    I would “not have capacity to help you at this time. Here is a number for someone else who can”

    And then refer the most amateur person I know.

      He’s already taken the photos for the client though, that sounds like you’re advising him to do them work and ensure he doesn’t get paid for it lol

      Well, English is not my first language. I think message is understandable. Was hoping it was better to post here to get advice without off topic comments but so far looks like I had unrealistic expectations.
