I am and entrepreneur and wondering what type of problems is your business facing? What are your pain points as they say? For me finding good talent is one!!
Reaching product market fit.
I see a lot of business owners in this chat. I am looking to find some sort of internship with anyone and just learn as much as possibile, currently going to school majoring in business administation with a concentration in entrepreneurship but figuried hands on would be so much more useful. If anyone needs help with any parts of their business let me know.
I’m a small health food shop that opened about 5 months ago in a small town. I see other thriving businesses in this town so I know it can work. It’s just getting people through the door. When I can get them in, they seem to love my shop and they spend money. But no matter how much I advertise and try to make my storefront stand out, I can’t get as many people as I’d like through the door on a daily basis. I guess I’m in the waiting game period of business ownership.
We have the same difficulty at the moment. Is it possible that it’s location related ? We found that attending food markets / fairs to build brand awareness really helps ! We also added a coffee / dining area so people can sit down and relax while shopping.
There was definitely a pull-back in spending as the year went on. Several customers reached out to say they weren’t going to be purchasing as much, because of the price of things (I sell hobby supplies with a primarily female customer group).
The past 3 1/2 years, it has kind of been FULL STEAM AHEAD, just shoveling orders out as fast as I can, ordering in huge quantities of things (as all of it would sell), and working so many hours.
Now that I have a chance to breathe, I am starting to go through the adjustment of less on my plate, which honestly, feels really good, as I have free time to make meals, clean and organize, and just relax. I am starting to clear out inventory that is “stale.” And planning what to do next year to keep the business alive (working with creative friends who are going to do exclusive products for me, creating more online content – videos, Instagram, newsletters, and doing more creating myself.
I don’t see all of this as a “problem,” necessarily. Just a new challenge, and I have a lot of ideas for keeping things alive. I have spent the last 5 years really building my brand and reputation, and I believe I can weather a downturn in customer spending just fine.
Finding Capital for a much needed expansion.
Are you currenty profitable?
At the high level that’s something that is available. Bank approvals are down, but non-bank lending is filling in the gaps a bit, including non-bank SBA lenders which I think people often skip over or are unaware of.
I’ve tried everything to grow and found so little return for the tremendous effort. Worked with 2 different marketing firms and hired 2 different biz dev people. Had to get rid of all of them. Onto working with a recruiter to try to swipe a biz dev person from another company in my industry.
I’m in high volume affiliate marketing. Banks are the problem for me as they see nearly every dollar earned as potential risk, they seem to be afraid of their own shadows these days. I outsource my customer service teams and software development, and that movement of funds causes concerns as well.
Funny, I have the exact opposite problem this year as a recruiter running my own agency. Abundant talent and very few good clients/opportunities. I’m 17 years in and have experienced quite a few economic cycles, this one is unusual for sure. Perhaps there’s a way to collaborate?
What kind of a team member or talent you’re looking for?
Growing our business and finding talent. Had decent success with Indeed, but took looking at almost 800 resumes before we found the right one.
I’m a remote freelance Operations Manager. I help small businesses with all of their back end operations - bookkeeping, payroll, social media, business development, light project management, etc.
I’ve found that a lot of clients try to cheap out when it comes to hiring a professional, but they’re saving on taxes, paperwork, insurance, etc. and they don’t have to manage a freelancer like they do an employee. They get their time back exponentially so they can focus on revenue production.
So the biggest challenge this year has been turning down entrepreneurs that don’t value investing in their business in the form of human skill.
Trying to onboard and train staff to grow my business. One thing helping is the Learnie product but turnover of people is always a problem.
Growing faster than we can keep up with. I know it’s a good problem to have but pretty soon I might be working weekends while also having to hire someone.
Growing my audience online! I’m an artist and I make the majority of my connections/sales through Instagram, which has been a nightmare to stay relevant on. It used to be SO easy to grow my following when I first launched in early 2020… now it feels like the algorithm is endlessly working against me and only lets up if I give it those sweet, sweet ad dollars.
hiring anyone worth a shit
