Hi everyone! Just shooting my shot here!

As a commercial cleaning business owner I’ve come to learn that when I go canvassing at different businesses (dental offices, medical centres, restaurants, gyms) it’s about selling myself as an individual not only my business. Owners tend to gravitate towards confidence, smiles, and the ability to relate to them and that’s what I try and present when I manage to speak with them. I always let them know that I’m not the kind of owner that just sends people to do the job, I myself get involved and do the cleaning too to set the standard high for my employees. I let them know that I’m all about communication and even offer a first time cleaning discount. I leave them with my business card and flyers and let them know that I’m only a phone call away.

As a business owner, if someone like me were to walk into your business, how receptive would you be? What are things you look for in a sales pitch? What can I do to convince you to go with me and not the competition?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I thank you so much for your time!

One bit of advice, use the word “thorough” repeatedly over and over again in marketing as well as in person elevator pitches. Don’t ask me why but it’s the magic word when it comes to commercial cleaning.

My reaction depends on my office cleaning needs at that point in time. Say suppose I have underlying issues with my current cleaning guys and if I am looking for a change then I would be very receptive to what you have to say. On the contrary if I am having someone cleaning from years who is doing a good job then probability is very high that I wouldn’t waste a single minute on what you have to say

Digitally business should be having strong presence which we can help you with organic and inorganic growth by identifying your target customers exactly who is looking for your services making sure they end up on your landing page which will be having a contact form and such leads will give you enough time to pitch and probability of them getting converted will be very high because these are intent leads who would be actually needing a cleaning team badly

Professionalism is key. Dress professional. Have a professional brand image (business card, website, brochure, etc). Speak professional.

I would refrain from saying as the owner you do the cleaning - I think this may help a little…but if you have a growth mindset you will eventually need employees and wont be able to do the cleaning yourself.

Also - discounts seem like a good idea but when it comes to annual commercial contracts its really just smoke and mirrors. And anyways, the clients you want aren’t the clients who are going to hire you just because you are the cheapest.
