I didn’t pay mine during that time because I was laid off just like 250,000 other people in my metro. Many business owners didn’t pay them because no one was fucking shopping for 1.5-2 years. Don’t be a simpleton. This is a complex issue.

There’s a lot of missing context here. Have you done a traffic study? How is the competition in the market? Is this business even needed/wanted? Is there enough of a customer population to sustain the business? Have you defined who your customer is? How will you reach them? Do you know how many products you have to turn over every day to be profitable? Is this a feasible number long-term? So on and so forth.
Judging by your vague description here, it sounds like you’re flying by the seat of your pants, so I’m going to take a gander that the answer is no, it’s likely not a good idea.
Don’t do this, OP. You’ll look like an amateur and an asshole to other customers. Be an adult, ignore the comment and move on. Engaging with dickheads in the comment section, especially over nothing comments like this one, is a great way to tank both your brand and reputation in just a few seconds.
What’s the title of the course? How to scam suckers out of $47 over some nonsense you can learn for free from a million vetted sources online?
In general, owning a business requires serious effort. Being easily shaken and bothered so much by what is a nothing-burger comment doesn’t bode well for the future of OP’s business. Being a business owner is hard. No wonder over 80% fail.
Those are just lame jokes that have been around since cash registers were invented. Not everything is meant to be taken so literally.
This comment was G-rated at worse, and definitely not something to be “shaken” about, much less to your “core”. Every small business will have push back and every owner will eventually have to deal with a bad customer. I suggest you cut the dramatics and come up with a plan on how you’re going to react to things like this in the future. This is part of owning a business.
You sound like you have no idea how social media works. Just because you think they saw the post doesn’t mean they did. Sometimes you’re mindlessly scrolling and click through stories super fast. You’re likely one of thousands of accounts your friends follow, so I think you’re massively overreacting. Congrats on your success; try to enjoy it rather than projecting nonsense onto your friends and getting stressed out over what is likely nothing.
