1 year agoIf you can afford it and they’re just a poor fit rather than some kind of malicious monster, pay out any unused sick or vacation time and maybe even a small severance on top of that. Buy them a little more time to plan their next steps. It both eases the guilt and also is less harmful to the morale of your other employees.
Other people have given you excellent advice about finding a bookkeeper, tax preparer, and asking chatgpt, so I will just add my best advice to that since I haven’t seen it mentioned:
If you haven’t already, open a checking account for the business, and keep business and personal transactions separate.
