Sooooo well put!!
I’m not sure I understand how this is easier or better than current solutions? As a customer when I want something from a local store, I use their website. These days, there really aren’t any stores that don’t already have a website. As a store owner, what value do you provide me? You’re now listing me next to other buying options. It’s a labor intensive endeavor for me to manage my shop on your app. Are you paying for marketing? Are you charging me?
I’m sorry but I can’t see any real problem this solves for either side.
Same for me. I also LOVED going to the rental shops (Blockbuster and Hollywood) as a young newlywed. It was like our date night every weekend. Just browsing and browsing trying to convince each other and compromising over movies. I could not see how Netflix could replace the experience. Boy was I wrong hahaha.
Definitely check for things like asbestos. Also of equal importance is check for any zoning issues.
Visit your local Small Business Development Center and get plugged in.
Are you in the US? If so Will your establishment have customers inside your building? You will need city zoning permits, fire Marshall inspection, parking lot requirements, etc. It sounds like you’ve done a lot of good work with the business plan and such, but make sure you have your codes and permits and licenses nailed down.
Do you have other employees?
I’m really not understanding your definition of friend. Who cares what his career or wealth aspirations are? Does he show up for you in your time of need? Is he fun to be around? Can you feel safe emotionally around him?
I realize you’re young and looking for advice on how to change him, but from one old person to a youngster, you need to look in the mirror. Your priorities around what is truly valuable in life and what makes people valuable to have in your life is a little off balance.
Not a grant but look into a microlender in your state. They are usually nonprofits and provide Microloans for just this purpose.
