Hello.

I am planning to start a coffee shop soon. We have a small (non-operating) store in front of our house, which I plan to convert into a coffee shop.

Business plan is mostly done, primary target market is a school just few steps away + residents in the area + foot traffic from the church nearby, funding is on its way. There will be some small renovations to be done, to prepare the store but we don’t expect it to take a while.

Need some advice on the timing of launch. Since yearend is approaching, I am torn between launching this year to capture the December rush… or I should just wait out until January (so as not to process the business permits twice in a span of 2 months).

Or can I operate partially in December without a business permit, but will process it once January hits?

Are you in the US? If so Will your establishment have customers inside your building? You will need city zoning permits, fire Marshall inspection, parking lot requirements, etc. It sounds like you’ve done a lot of good work with the business plan and such, but make sure you have your codes and permits and licenses nailed down.
