  • This is devastating when it happens to your business. I think it’s actually quite common to see someone try to slander a business with a series of 1 stars in a row. Best thing to do is use it as an opportunity to respond to them and without identifying them or their interaction, stand up for yourself with the facts about how you run a ethical business. Then get a series of people to leave good reviews that mention the 1 stars are being invalid and reasons why

  • I’m in exact same position, I could have wrote this post myself. I’m 5 years in and trying to sell. I’ve destroyed my mental and physical health. My employees I’ve had were immensely overpaid (me hoping they would care about doing a good job) and ended up being dishonest and adjusting their pays by adding hours and cashing out services dishonestly. Once I took a deeper look at things it broke my heart. I’m not an authoritative person … people walked all over me in ways I never could have imagined. I will never trust anyone to work for me again. I’m doing all the services and running the business until it sells. Everyday I wake up that I have to work, I have to force myself out of the house I’m often sobbing in despair.

  • An employee that respected you would comply with you telling them to stop, her saying she’s not going to and justifying her actions (regardless of her opinion) is disrespectful. As a customer, I wouldn’t want to interrupt someone reading a book to interact with the business rep. This not the vibe you want for your customers experience. Expecting to get paid while reading is the wrong mindset. I would quietly start to look for someone more engaged with the role and has some sales experience.

Reading a book during a market when customers are waking by is not a sales strategy, it’s a weak excuse to do what they want and undermine you telling them that’s not ok. Makes customers feel like they are uninterested in the product and totally defers them from engaging in a conversation

I highly doubt the people saying on here let them read are in similar shoes to you

  • I’m in the same position, spent the last 5 years getting my soul sucked and watching my health go down hill mentally and physically in ways I never could have imagined. Sticking with the business doesn’t sound like the option that lights your fire … everyone on here can say oh just hire people. Well people sometimes are shitty, and it’s a huge energy commitment to properly train someone … and then it’s a huge gamble that they will be good & trustworthy … if you don’t have the bandwidth to get through your week, you don’t have energy to hire and train Talk to a business broker, sell asap and take them to heal yourself. Life’s too short to be soul sucked.

Other option is get a partner to take over operations, make deal that you’ll stay on board for transition significantly. Cash out for half and then have a time stamp to sell other half after they’ve taken over operations 100%
