I had a friend who wanted to start a coin counting by mail business. The customer mails the coins in a flat rate package and then you count them and in exchange the people get a gift card to a local restaurant.

Oh I’ve got this. My employer offshored data entry to Mexico, mostly public record documents. In a fit of hyper-efficiency they rolled out voice to text technology to reduce keying time. Very few people spoke English and the heavy accents mis-transcribed virtually 100% of the documents

Company I worked for offshored 100% of their incident management and fired all the UK staff. Then it was pointed out to them that their largest customer (40% of their business) had a clause that they had to use UK staff for all IM.

The ensuing shit show caused at least two executives to leave the business for “other opportunities.”
