I have a confession to make: I don’t like social media. I don’t like to build communities (weird right?) I don’t like to create content. I don’t like to engage for the sake of engaging.

I’ve been on social media for a year now (I do coaching) and have been trying to find ways to love it. But I don’t.

At first I thought it was because of unfamiliar territory, something that I don’t know how to do but will learn to love it once I do know.

But this love hasn’t grown on me. It just feels like a chore.

Many might suggest to hire a social media manager or someone to help with my account. I have in the past and none worked out (most were really rigid in their ways.) also, it’s currently not within my budget.

Any advice, tips or suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Ps I am on IG and was on tiktok

Like you, find social media to be a time consuming chore.

I never did FB, although I would have benefitted from it. I did IG, which I know did nothing for us, I did Google Business Profile which was effective and threw an occasional entry on our blog.

I got through simply with some old fashioned discipline. It was for the good of the company and our employees.

I have nothing for you. I do it,‘don’t get me wrong. But I would love nothing more than to find someone solely focused on it so we have things happening every day. I’d love to never have to make another post again

if you have any siblings or children. You can think of asking them to help with ideas and content in a way that they would have some fun. Why not

    or

Try to use ChatGPT to provide you with some ideas or good written text content. Maybe save time on this and photos and videos might be more interesting to do

I kinda felt the same way. I heard really good advice about business on social media once: only do it if you like it.

I think it’s because your audience can sort of tell. And if you enjoy it you’re more likely to engage, put out quality content, and be consistent.

With that said, I had a big problem recently where I wanted to become more active on social media (mostly to help promote a Kickstarter project I did) but I didn’t really like the most popular platforms.

I had the really difficult choice of compromising my ideals and using those platforms or sticking to what I believe and making so with other social media.

In the end I chose a few platforms that I liked and am only active on those for now. I’ve decided that in the future when I have more help, I may expand. But even then it would only be if someone working with me is passionate about the new platform.

There are a lot of options for social media. (Even new ones come out each year). I would say explore all the different ones and find ones that are a good fit for you.

If you don’t like your position or role right now, which you’ve mentioned, is a Coach.

What things that you think that you do will make your heart happy? Something that your inner self would find it enjoyable.

    What is it?

If you have your answer, let me know. And I can help you afterwards. :)
