Looking to switch from Square due to the inability to charge credit card fees. We are a service based business operating at customers homes. We still do a good deal of check and cash payments but need an option for credit cards. What is everyone using? We have had Square for at least 6-7 years.

So whatever you would charge the client normally, add 5% to your quote - now you no longer have a separate “credit card fee”

Alternatively, add 5-10% to all of your quotes to account for increasing costs, fees, etc

Then for cash or check payments you can offer a small discount if they ask, but I would max the discount at $25-50 depending on the size of the job, maybe go to $100 max discount for really big jobs

Yes, a lot of people are leaving Square with the same concern. What exactly do you need the system to do for your point of sale functionality?

Accept cards in person, over the phone and online. And be able to send an online invoice. That’s it. We have a system that does everything else for us.

Got it. We do these systems all of the time for former Square users who perform service work such as plumbers, electricians, A/C, etc. Feel free to message me if you’d like to discuss specific solutions that will net your rate at 0%. If not, no worries.

Payments professional of 15 years here. This is happening often with Square now. What POS functions do you need from the system other than just accepting cards?
