It is so annoying. It is like everyone is after easy money by just creating OpenAI wrappers. I was just going through PH and it feels like you cannot release an app if it does not include AI in its name. So frustrating.

What are your thoughts on that?

Thats true but almost all crypto projects are a scam or at best missleading. Bitcoin should not be even on the same list with all the other coins.

Few months ago it was people selling monkey jpegs, now it’s the low effort generative AI apps. Nonsense comes and goes, quality products always remain in fashion. Focus on building your own thing and focus on quality.

It’s just a trend. It will die down with time. Some of the apps are actually quite useful. You just have to filter through the noise.

I’m with you. Im over here still chugging away at the same idea. Meanwhile so many others are slamming out 4 MVPs a month, and most of them are nonsense.

Don’t worry — Open AI will eat all those apps as it starts copying the wrapped ones into in-built features. It’s the same old story with app and play store.

Welcome to the world of opportunistic cash grabs and shameless hucksterism.

You can’t change it. Only your reaction to it.

There are all sorts of businesses, there are big picture VC-fundable businesses that exit via IPOs and there are lifestyle businesses that exit via acquisitions or turn into family businesses.

For AI wrapper apps the model seems to be to exit via an early sale to someone less hands-on with tech, who wants to run a business at what they see is the cutting edge but cannot get it off the ground. It will work until there are buyers who feel they can add their marketing skills to the mix, grow MRR and make a bigger exit to another buyer down the line.

I completely agree about how annoying it is, but look at the bright side, one day people will realize how useless these apps are and that’s when non AI apps will become the trend once again.

I feel what you feel, but the only way to get over it is to go through it. I would recommend biting your lips for a few weeks and releasing as many apps as you can; you will learn a ton and start seeing the world differently. There’s nothing I can say to convince you of that, unless you try it yourself.

Also, I’d recommend dropping at one of the AI Tinkerers meetups (tinkerer dot ai) , it really helped me to see the AI world through other people’s eyes and to see what gets them excited. You don’t have to say anything or present anything, but listening to others will help you be more excited, I promise.

I haven’t seen too many AI apps on pornhub, but I use an ad blocker.

But stop spending time on producthunt.
