Hey everyone, not sure how to describe my need, but it’s as follows.
I am a surgeon, I have multiple assistants to facilitate my day to day. I am either unavailable for long periods of time because I am operating or certain tasks/requests are low level and don’t require my immediate attention. However, I am the one ultimately responsible and the one who has the greatest interest in the happiness of my patients. What I am looking for is a contact number (text) that I can provide my patients that is shared amongst a group of people. This would allow ppl to contact my assistants while i’m unavailable, but for me also allow me to oversee it.
I have an email, but that’s not real time. My assistants don’t want to give out their cell phones. Many of patients have my cell phone, but i’m not always available, and some things I don’t want to be first contact.
Is there a way to share a single phone/messaging account amongst multiple people?
Thank you.
Plenty of places have a group number that can receive texts. I don’t know if there may be HIPAA issues with some of them.
Why not use something that is integrated into your EHR/EMR system?
EMR has messaging but it’s directed to me and I’m not starting at the EMR when operating or at night or weekends when post op issues arise.
A cloud provider like Ooma should be able to provide one number for texting(and voice) that should be able to be programmed to go to multiple destinations.
You and your staff would each download the Ooma app onto their cell phone which enables receipt of the message and creation of a message.
This has no bearing or impact on each person’s mobile number on their cell phone.
Hi there, software developer here. I would like to know more about your need. Maybe I can implement a tech solution. I left you a DM.
