Hello,

I’m going to be hiring my first sales rep (account manager) that will have a quota and certain key metrics they will be accountable for. When, during the hiring process is this information conveyed to the applicant? Is it during the interview process or in the job offer or sometime after? Thanks.

Up front. Never hide compensation info. If you do, you might waste your time screening a candidate, only for them to withdraw when they discover that they don’t like your terms.

Any good candidate for a revenue generating role is going to ask what quotas and metrics are set up for the role as one of their first questions and probably will ask before you even get to it anyways but transparency is always better than not in hiring.

As soon as possible. Why waste your time or theirs when you know this is a key element of whether they are the right fit or not. Compensation and job expectations should be given as early and as transparently as possible.
