Sewerage disposal truck companies. Not even joking, huge money operating “honey” trucks with little competition in most areas. Waste disposal is a close second

Electric experimental aircraft (kit built planes). Most electric aviation is E-VTOL, but there’s basically no option for a traditional style plane with an electric motor.

Just the risk of such a plane going up in flames would probably be way to high to actually realize that. Putting out battery fires is really hard and requires a lot of recourses + the damage that it would do to the runway.

And these things are incredibly heavy, so the power per kg ratio would be very low, way lower than traditional planes.

Redisrupt food delivery. Restaurants, drivers and clients are now all beholden to like 5 rubbish firms. Restaurants get nothing other than bad reviews, drivers get stressed, client gets cold food delivered late with a $10 option to have it delivered on time.

You pay 20£ for food and one more time 20£ for delivery. How can you order from Uber or another shitty app…

I’ve actually had an idea for this. Use advertising to pay for delivery services. How? Deploy a fleet of ad wrapped or screen-equipped company owned cars on set routes near populated areas. The cars drive using GPS connected to the ordering platform that restaurants can use to summon drivers. The number of visual impressions from the cars driving around could be high enough to sell to large brands. There would be no mark ups on pricing nor any delivery or service fees. This could be done in urban areas too using couriers on foot with ad wrapped food boxes and bikes. Employees would be W2 with background checks and salaries.

I get the notion of ads ruining our world, but in this case, ads could help.

I like this. With the model Uber etc have deployed, there’s no accountability aside from privately to Uber/Menulog on their terms. Ads would mean more stakeholders wanting to ensure that things are going smoothly. “Are you treating your drivers well? Do they drive well? My brand will not be associated with …”

This comment is correct. Every 6 month, there is a new (food) delivery company getting started, because people don’t understand how difficult the economics are. Best way to burn cash quickly, trust me.

Also, you’re competing with the giants of big tech who have the means and cred to hire the best brains out of Silicon Valley, and have done it for the last ten years.

Not here to shoot down the intention, but there is this false conception that food delivery is “easy”

Making educators lives easier somehow. Basic education is untapped, but there’s no money in it without massive scale.

I work in K12 IT. A lot of educators want it easier but don’t want to contribute anything to achieve it. This isn’t just my cynicism talking though: ask r/k12sysadmin.

This, especially in some high-paying fields like IT.

I have a friend who was working as a game dev educator. His salary was like 60% of mine. I would love to teach but it makes no sense to almost cut my pay in half.

Tbh I am not sure how to make this equation. People don’t seem to want to pay for good education unless it has a label like that of a fancy university.

I don’t have solutions in mind, that wasn’t the question. But my thoughts were along the lines of:

        • Education punishes the teacher, and by extension punishes the student
        • Many states around the world fail to invest in it, to their detriment. Mainly because the perception is it’s all cost and no return; and yet the countries that invest in broad education prove this to be wrong.
        • Good education is so rare, it’s usually prohibitively expensive.
        • So most people get exhausted teachers, constrained, uncreative. Even the caring ones only have 5 mins to spare.

So it seems to me that a disruption might:

        • Offer an alternative approach to teachers, that allows them to do their best work more easily through efficiencies, or aids, or reusable tools, or enhancements.
        • Find ways to educate outside of the system without eroding the standard expected. If it works, it becomes the new normal. Maybe this is what “Academies” tried to do in the UK.
        • Maybe link industrial benefits with educational costs. As part of a big industry employer, I am dependent on the school system to provide future skilled and capable employees. But it’s very hard to invest or support that system in a meaningful way.
        • One option could be to sponsor school assignments, give young students real-life projects, but the sponor owns the IPR.

Hopefully that elaborates on the thinking, someone smarter than me is needed to spot the opportunity, one safe for the next generations of students, but also profitable, and make it work.

Whatever comes between being a sardine on public transport, or buying an overpriced EV that you don’t need. Like a premium Uber that takes 6 white collar workers from their close homes in a suburb to a city centre, in a Mercedes van with Wi-Fi.

The problem with something like this is if you have any success at all the big players Uber and Lyft would smash you. They could easily (relative to starting a new company) spin this up as an additional option in their app.

I would assume they have considered this and its not cost effective. Maybe you can get lucky and build it for them and they throw tons of cash at you.

The distance between eg HelloFresh and ordering your weekly groceries online is still too wide. Use AI to automate my groceries delivery to give me affordable meals that change from week to week. Let the supermarkets do the delivery, just manage the list for me, get me to review it and then done.

Something cool that I found out, you can use chatgpt pro and generate an image of a really good looking meal by describing what you want or like. Then you can ask ChatGPT how to make that meal, and it will tell you! Might be a fun app to make. I still have never made one of the meals though. lol

I always thought it would make a lot of sense for grocery stores to have someone curate a relatively simple recipe and a more interesting one each day. Gather whatever is needed for them, put all ingredients up front of by the produce section with a card with instructions for each.

Seems like a good way to move stuff that is nearing expiration but also a helpful thing for someone swinging by after work.

People who want to be business owners or entrepreneurs have a limited amount of resources where they can pay for good, professional ideas and advice. Best open market is the entrepreneur with drive but no ideas or the ability to research.

I think there’s a market for the other side too. I have lots of great ideas and capital and desire to start a business but am held back because of the fear. Never had exposure to a business owner and that makes me hesitant to start anything.

I think B2B marketing tools, resources and real life examples to generate more inbound leads is a big one.

Only decent ones are Hubspot for tools and resources, and the Growth Archive gallery for real life examples of b2b growth marketing strategies. They do custom audits too.

Also a genuine review site for agencies, as i notice a lot of people are always asking for people’s thoughts on which agency to choose from for seo, copywriting or whatever they looking for…

So you can always direct them to this page and then they can select the agency from the niche they looking for

Agencies typically make a lot / sale, so converting just 2 of your leads per month could significantly boost their MRR

    Reliable, professional, skilled labor.

So many people don’t know basic maintenance skills, but have a high income and will pay top dollar for the work needed to maintain/rehab their homes and businesses.

I’ve thought about this too. Is there any sort of service marketplace out there to hire skilled laborers that want to take on work, even on the side?

I know there are places like Angi’s List and HomeAdvisor but all of it seems like such a hassle and is often really expensive. Would be nice was a marketplace with vetted laborers to choose from.

A one stop shop to provide the best answers for any question. This has to be the most untapped market. Relying on a search engine has been shit recently. We lookup something and literally everything is sponsored. Also the posts are highly focused on seo and not actually what we want (most of the times)

Affordable, fresh and healthy lunch options. There is a market for professionals and students for a type of lunch delivery service whether it be delivered the night before or Mondays and Wednesdays, etc. I see so many students with not great lunches and I know there’s gotta be a better option.
