Saw a post today about a girl being a “pet psychic” who is apparently super successful. Wondered what other examples are out there.

NFL. I mean at the very base layer how dumb is it that throwing and catching a ball between a few people generates 20 billion per year and at the same has convinces the public that they need to be a nonprofit exempt from taxes.

    That’s entertainment.

I’m European and if anyone asks back home how to sum up NFL, I say it’s the world’s fastest slowest game.

I’ve no idea how anyone can watch a sport where the absolute longest anything interesting will happen is 6 seconds.

That’s not really accurate. The NFL gave up their tax-free status in 2015 because the bad PR hurt more than the tax exemption helped.

But even before that decision, the idea that they weren’t paying taxes was false. The NFL itself was structured as a trade association with 32 members (the teams). Any money generated by the NFL was passed through to the member clubs who DO pay taxes. The NFL itself as an entity had essentially zero income (something like $10 million on $10 billion of league revenue). Literally 99.9% of NFL revenue was taxed as income to each team, and 0.1% was untaxed for the league office itself.

this is so dumb… the NFL owners pay for the NFL as an administrative non-profit entity. All the money received is distributed to the NFL owners and the NFL owners pay taxes.

So true! I have never understood this and refused to date people entertained by this pointless display on television.
