Do you know how easy it is claim something like that on google? And that’s not rhetorical, it’s genuine. Because I’m wondering is it possible Emma Jack was just looking at your business profile and accidentally clicked a button, or maybe it’s a kid messing around? I really have no idea - I’m just wondering how many steps did this person take for that email to be sent to you?

There are six companie in the US that have my same same or similar name. It all works out.

I’ve had several of these emails. It freaked me out, too. The emails were indeed fro Google claiming Jane Doe is claiming access to my domain.

I always click and say, “No.” I can detect spam/scam/phishing but when I see that these emails are from Google, I make certain to reply.

I don’t know the logistics behind someone being able to claim my business. It is freaky.

Just ignore them. It’s basically spam. Google allows anyone to request access to a business so it’s not like you can stop these emails from happening.

Yes, just deny. The scammers will keep trying for a while. Just keep denying the claim.

I have two business profiles, and about twice a year I get that notification.

I immediately respond with a “fuck you” to the person who sent the request. The email is legit from google, so clicking the link should take you to your google business profile to review your profile settings. Confirm all is good, and then follow up by emailing the asshole directly. I reply and sent a fresh email telling the person to go fuck themselves.

It is no mistake they clicked on the link when trying to take ownership.
