I’m really freaked out right now because I’ve heard horror stories. I got an email - a legit one, I believe, because it came from google.com - that someone named Emma Jack is claiming to own our business.

Needless to say, she doesn’t.

I didn’t want to click the link in the email in case it was a bad link so I went to Google maps to see if I could find a place to respond on there but I didn’t see one. She isn’t currently listed as an owner but I’m afraid she will be added and then she will immediately remove us.

Has anyone been through this? What kind of proof does Google accept? I haven’t had good experiences with this kind of thing before so I’m really scared I’m somehow gonna lose my Google maps business profile even though we are the rightful owner.

Do you know how easy it is claim something like that on google? And that’s not rhetorical, it’s genuine. Because I’m wondering is it possible Emma Jack was just looking at your business profile and accidentally clicked a button, or maybe it’s a kid messing around? I really have no idea - I’m just wondering how many steps did this person take for that email to be sent to you?
