I own a very new, very small business selling underboob sweat protectors.

This morning I posted an offer on my page. It wasn’t a big offer but it was a saving. We’re talking a £1 saving here. Trust me, that’s important information.

I get a comment on my offer: “if you can afford to post offers like that, why don’t you just drop your prices? 🙄”

I’m horrified. I don’t understand what the motivation was behind it… I don’t think my prices are unreasonable at all and I’m not sure why someone would say that?

“Why do people have to be so horrible?”

Why do people have to be so sensitive?

Long time ago, I was working at a carwash and this guy drives up in old Lincoln Continental smoking a big cigar.

Says hey what is your cheapest wash? I said $5.00. He says it doesn’t look like you guys are very busy. I’ll give you two dollars. I said I can’t do that. He said I was an asshole and drove off. I laughed.

It doesn’t pay to be thin skinned in business.

There are all sorts of bottom dwellers, tire kickers, and time wasters around.

    Stick to your guns.

Yeah well good for everybody who is not sensitive by default. But when you actually are sensitive you don’t just decide not to be… It takes a serious effort.

This comment is so incredibly tame and this person is “horrified”.

Wait until they see just how horrible people really are. I can’t imagine being so thin skinned that this comment in particular would bug me.

In general, owning a business requires serious effort. Being easily shaken and bothered so much by what is a nothing-burger comment doesn’t bode well for the future of OP’s business. Being a business owner is hard. No wonder over 80% fail.
