I am a SW developer with 10 years of experience.

ChatGPT has helped me with numerous tasks including setting up new AWS services I was previously not familiar with and would have needed a cloud expert to set them up with. It also knows everything about complex libraries and helps me read poor documentation and manuals.

ChatGPT has fixed numerous bugs in my code that would have taken me hours to find. When I’m learning new tech sometimes I don’t understand anything and make stupid mistakes that chatGPT easily spots and also explains helping me learn more.

ChatGPT in form of copilot constantly suggests me more code to write and radically cuts my development time.

ChatGPT is superior translating service able to produce fluent text in any language. It is also able to rewrite text you have written yourself in better ways and shoot back ideas on how to rephrase something.

But sure. It is dumb as planks because you want the first generation AI chatbot to already replace all humans… It’s like saying that Google is stupid and useless tech because you can’t always find what you are looking for behind the first link.

  • I sold my part of the software consulting company I founded with my friends for 2m€ this year. After taxes it will generate just enough passive income to retire if I want to which was my original goal as an entrepreneur.

Really happy about it. I am still working at the company full time and don’t really know what I want to do next but time will probably tell.

  • Learn skills that are beneficial for companies (sales, marketing or tech for example). Find people who have the other skills but also have good ideas. That’s what I’ve always done. I learned how to build apps and have been in quite a few start ups already without having to create a single business idea of my own.

There are like 30 people telling you that your website is not good. You come here telling that there is nothing wrong and we just don’t understand ignoring all legitimate critisism.

Meanwhile you say that you have founded countless startups which for some reason all failed and you have trouble making money.

I feel like there might be a connection here…

  • When I started doing web apps in 2013 everyone was complaining that all the easy to make million dollar apps like flashlights and fart pillows are already created.

Now it seems everyone is complaining that all the SaaS and CRUD is done (which isn’t true but we can imagine that it is)

I guess in 10 years everyone will see posts about how every single simple AI tool is already made.

Move with the times. You have 1000 different ways you can integrate AI to a web app and provide value to a customer. The hard part has always been figuring out what and how. I also see new very basic CRUD SaaS apps pop up constantly. You can always improve on existing solutions or target a different group.

That definitely isn’t too much. If someone is doing it for cheaper they are probably doing something illegal like not paying taxes.

If it is too expensive and you don’t get any clients then it means there is no market for professional dog walkers. Your rate for repeating customers is 35AUD/h. That’s $22 USD/h right? I doubt you can buy any other professionals time in Australia for that cheap. Can you?

However having people complain about your prices is not an issue. Any service you can provide is always going to be too expensive for some because buying services is a luxury. Very few people can afford to get their apartments and houses cleaned by maids. Doesn’t matter. There are enough well doing people to buy cleaning services. Find where the people live who can afford to get their dogs walked and target your sales in those areas. The neighborhood where all the rich people live in your area is probably a good start.

  • If you approached my company and told me that you could create a video like that for $20 I would think you are a scammer. Because it’s so ridiculously cheap considering how much effort I think goes to one video.

You really need to rethink your pricing. I don’t know where you are based but even companies hiring low waged employees bill like $40-$50 an hour. Like how much does it cost you to get a haircut where you live? What about getting your car fixed? Why are you even considering doing a 4-5 hour project for $20!?

I mean if you want to do them as a hobby and give them away for basically free that’s one thing but if you want to be a business you need to 10x your prices.
