I was the same. Eventually found my focus. I think it’s part of the journey of finding what you’re going to do for reals. But I still have moments where I let my mind wonder. This is important for my creativity. Don’t worry, if you work on it you’ll learn to focus and find your path.

  • I would focus on learning fundamental skills rather than any one business. Marketing and advertising are super powerful skills that will give you an edge no matter what you decide to do.

And the best way to do that is to learn from examples. Learning from examples will also give you exposure to different businesses and business models.

Youtube is full of hype when it comes to marketing, but here are a couple of newsletters that I would recommend instead. This one focusses on marketing in general, and this one more on advertising and crafting creative campaigns. Both are great. Good luck

  • Having bought and sold websites in the past, my experience is marketplaces like flippa are filled with trash sites.

There are gems to be found, don’t get me wrong. But you have to do a ton of homework and you need to have plan for growth. You need to know what you’re doing.

Many of those sites become attractive if you have an existing audience you can plug them into. This is the thing most sites struggle with. Even if a business is making regular income, it’s unlikely to keep making it without ongoing effort. Again for this you need a plan for growth, you need to know what you’re doing.

If you really want to explore this, learn the basics of marketing first. Buy a small site to test the waters like you say, and use it for learning. It’s won’t be easy and you’ll probably fail on your first attempt (I did) but constantly learning is how you progress.
