$10k in 9 months doesn’t beat a minimum wage job
Every business is vastly different. I used to have 3 employees and only work 10 hours a week. It was nice, but I made almost nothing after payroll. I now do ALL of the work in my business. I make much more money now, have control over everything, and my customers like it a lot better because I simply care more about my craft than anyone else would.
With that being said, if I want to grow my business, i’ll need to start hiring again and delegating work. It’s a balancing act that you’ll need to figure out on your own and decide how you want your life to be structured.
Small business is not corporate america and never should be. I’d laugh and end the interview
You’re essentially working as if you own the business without any of the benefits of actually owning the business
With only $15k income from this business, the truck is irrelevant. After standard business deduction you have nearly 0 tax liability to begin with
$80 for a professional home cleaning is seriously laughable. For $80 I’ll show up to your house and you can listen to my vacuum run in my truck for a few minutes before I leave. After gas, car payment, overhead, marketing, paying labor to go out to the job, they’re probably spending $120 to come out to you.
Back to your original question, I run a home service business and don’t carry cash on me all the time, if you need change there’s a chance I wouldn’t be able to give it to you. On the other hand I accept card & check so this situation wouldn’t matter.
I’m still seriously baffled that you only paid $80, I think that’s more on you for thinking you’d get any value out of an $80 service
