I had a friend who wanted to start a coin counting by mail business. The customer mails the coins in a flat rate package and then you count them and in exchange the people get a gift card to a local restaurant.

there was a woman who initially thought that she could develop a device that would diagnose disease by sampling blood through the skin, and also provide therapeutic medication by injecting it through the skin. Took one semester of fluid dynamics, dropped out of college, ignored actual experts since she felt determination could overcome anything. Conned investors, abused employees, put medical patients at risk and finally was exposed by a Wall Street Journalist. Elizabeth something or other… ;)
Her story is actually so much more interesting, because she actually made progress towards the blood test after she had lied to investors to get the money (so she could hire actual engineers and work them to the bone). While they worked towards the blood test, they processed the tests manually, incurring huge costs. The concept, given enough research, is probably feasible (on a small scale it already was), but the well was tainted when they lied and faked and lied some more.
Rush people - it’s a club and you’re not in it! 😂🤷♂️ she’d have never got that far if she hadn’t been well connected with moneyed friends.
The Dropout is a great watch btw.
Yes! And that’s also the name of the podcast where I first hearsd the story. Also great.
