I’m an independent music teacher and my business is growing at a rate that I’m ready to move to a scheduling software that takes care of booking, scheduling, and charging clients for me. My case is a little different since I offer sliding scale pricing so I’ve been unsuccessful in finding something that works.
As of right now, students are paying me via Venmo and Paypal and once I receive a payment notification, I manually schedule that in my Google calendar.
I’m not sure if a software exists with all of the following features, but ideally I’m looking for something that supports:
- Googe Calendar integration
- Pricing customization by client (and make it so other clients can’t see what others are being charged}
- Billing cycles that are monthly, weekly, in packages, etc.
- Automatic time zone and currency adjustments
- Ability to block out available/unavailable times
- Give clients the ability to book their own sessions
- *not required* Reminder emails/texts
I’ve looked at Acuity and my website is supported by Squarespace, but I haven’t really delved deep since I need so many features.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It’s hard to help you with your request as it’s pretty nuanced. If you want to find something that has a low upfront cost you’d be looking at something prebuilt. Prebuilt solutions will likely not have all the features just the way you like it, so it often takes time to drill down exactly what you’re willing to give up on. None the less, a quick web search returned “My Music Staff” that might fit your needs.
If you want to build something from open source components that might closer fit your needs, it will also take a bit of back and forth to drill down the requirements. Either way, the process takes time.
