Publicly roast the former CEO and claim that you personally destroyed that business because you are too powerful to stop. Also sleep with his wife

You can have them transfer the number to you. When we have purchased businesses we always have the former owner transfer the number to us. Different phone companies have different procedures.

Life doesn’t give very many opportunities, take advantage of the dumb luck that comes your way.

Reach out and see if they are willing to send out a message to their customers referring you for future service. Often times you can buy the customer database inexpensively.

Offer to give them a cut of X business brought in directly from their domain and phone number for X amount of time.

Should lower the cost of acquiring their list + traffic from their brand.

Even less advertising. By default advertising is to gain advantage over competitors. Therefore one less competitor means you don’t need to budget as much to stay on top

Learn from them, see if you can buy some of their assets for cheap.

Most probably someone else will come because there’s a gap in the market and there’s only one service provider.
