Hi guys! So yesterday we launched an app on Product Hunt and it seems we did not do as good as I expected haha.

The app is very simple, it’s for parents who want to bond with their children and teach them values. This quote explains better the problem we’re trying to solve:

Learning surrenders control to the future, threatening established power. It is vigorously suppressed by all political structures, which replace it with a docilizing and conformist education, reproducing privilege as wisdom. – Nick Land, Meltdown

So that’s the app…

How can I get more parents to download and use it?

If it is okay with the community, I can share a link in the comments.

Oh, the app is called “Bedtime Bot”, currently only available in the AppStore

That’s the problem you’re trying to solve with an app that teaches values?

Yeah, the entrepreneurial problem here is: This is fucked up and this post makes it sounds like you need therapy.

The problem you’re trying to solve is a dystopian quote which makes you sound insane.

I dunno, as a parent I am super picky about where I take my info from in child raising. Either something recommended by a parent I trust or if I don’t (eg it’s an app) it needs to have a lot of credentials attached to it.

Just one data point from the millions of parents out there so maybe take with a grain of salt. Might guide how to get more parents onboard though.

Hm, I’d start first with solving a problem or issue that you see in the parent industry maybe, and then create an app that solves that specific problem. You’re creating something that solves a problem, not exactly teaching someone something.

    Re-think your approach + structure

    Okay. Honest here.

If your summarization of the app is that quotation, I’m gonna put some betting dollars on you upping your sales game being a good thing for you.

You come across as very mental, which I resonate with. But in this case it’s hindering you. Now if you are different when your sales game is on, then this post doesn’t apply. But if you are the same, my best advice for you–as a software engineer who has sales experience–is to get someone on your team who can handle sales/marketing. Ask them to teach you as they go along as your teammate.
