Hey Everyone,

I recently launched my web design agency and decided to kick off with cold calling. I’ve reached out to about 100 businesses, particularly painters in Toronto with basic websites, offering a no upfront cost deal at $25 a month for hosting and maintenance for my first 20 clients. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen much traction. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong or if my offer needs tweaking? I only do static sites so basically no e-commerce would that be limiting myself?

Couple things here that are limiting you:

    - You’re in the most over-saturated space out there.

    - You’re targeting painters with bad websites (which is subjective) in one area. A painter’s website should be fairly basic. It isn’t ecomm. Contact info and a gallery of finished jobs. Maybe a bio. Not much more needed.

    - You’re offering free stuff which, as others have said dampens your credibility.

Honestly I can kind of see what offering such a low price would scare some people off, I thought it would be a good way for me to get traction going early, my plan was to eventually raise my prices to 50 a month then 100 a month as demand start building up from people who like my woke.

Another thing to consider… people with bad websites have a bad website for a reason. It doesn’t matter to them, they don’t care. The OP might actually get better results targeting people with decent websites but giving them a better deal.
