I work a lot of large events selling eco-friendly apparel like beanies, hats, shirts etc… and have been wondering if there is a way to easily collect emails or prompt people to follow my social media accounts when they make a purchase? I have a sign that has my social media tags on it but I was thinking about incentivizing people with 10% for following us on Instagram and subscribing to our email list. Just wondering if anyone else has a solution to this or any insight into what has worked or not worked for you. Thanks, cheers!

You could use a qr code pointing to your social media and a qr to your website where they can add their email.

Instead of a QR code, you can have a NFC tag in your stall where people can easily tag and go to your website/social media.

It depends how “friendly” is your Instagram handle. If it’s short and easy to write or it has some special characters - for instance “beanandween” it’s easy to type, “bean&ween” requires an extra step, not much but still, you want to make it easier for your future customers.

The QR code has the advantage that people that have difficulty typing in smartphones, or dyslexia or any other disability that prevents them to type/read correctly, can easily scan it

The discount will certainly attract people, but are you willing to pay that much for a subscriber? Try putting a qr code to go to your social networks on the price tag. I would add there the phrase: “Be the first to know about promotions!”
We’ve also used a random lottery - as a way to get people on socials. Along with the qr-code place information about the lottery among subscribers who left a comment under the last post - 3 gifts from your assortment, drawn among a couple hundred people for us is a much more economical solution than to give everyone a 10% discount, plus it greatly increases the activity under the post and viewing stories, because people are waiting for the announcement of the winners.
    Good luck to you!

I’ve done a million of these for my clients and while QR codes can be a great utility, they’re not some bag of magic beans. You need an incentive to really collect any data these days. A coupon code or a giveaway is an ideal starting point.
