I want to run a website where I see clothing and shoes, but I don’t know if I want to have people create accounts or not, are there any benefits to it?
This is more of a side project, something I want to keep in the 4-low 5 figure range.

I’d keep the feature open to interpretation. But even Shopify has the ability to show repeat customers. If you have a large amount of repeats then I would implement it but if you haven’t even launched yet you have other things to worry about.
