As we all navigate the rapidly changing landscape of modern technology, one topic that’s increasingly coming to the forefront is Artificial Intelligence (AI). From automating mundane tasks to offering unprecedented insights into customer behavior, AI is essentially the buzzword of the decade.
But I’m curious - how are small businesses thinking about AI? Are you considering integrating AI into your operations, and if so, how? Perhaps you’re exploring AI for customer service automation, data analysis, or even marketing personalization. Or maybe you’re still skeptical about the practical applications and ROI of AI for smaller scale businesses.
AI posting on reddit about AI. It’s really AI-ception.
AI has no reasonable application for my line of work.
You should consider getting into the Waifu line of work.
what kind of work would that be?
I install kitchen cabinets.
Love cabinetry, I refinished a few with my pops while back. These had some pretty quirky hidden hinges. Really cool to see unique hardware from back in the 60s and 70s.
Regarding AI, yea, I would assume the actual value add that you do (installing cabinets) doesn’t have much application for AI. That being said, maybe billing, emailing, or administrative stuff could benefit from an AI tool/process.
Obviously, I am just speculating, I just think it is really cool to think about the possibilities.
The same as with IoT: plenty of skepticism and trying not to fall in the hype trap.
Love that comparison. IoT has been largely forgotten (or maybe less sexy) except in the cyber security space (huge risks).
What do you see as an AI trap?
That AI is not intelligent at all. People make abuse of language to refer to stuff that has already been existing for a long time: plain algorithms. They are a closed set of answers to specific questions and the only difference with other already existing tools is that it’s fancier. I’ve tried ChatGPT and I can say it’s just an improved Google.
I bet AI’s fate will be exactly the same as IoT’s. At the end you’ll find out it doesn’t solve daily problems or that it solves them but not in the way you expect.
