Hey everyone. Happy Holiday’s. I was curious to hear any stories about small business owners that have depression on here.

I am a small business owner that has an online service business primarily helping other small local business owners in their cities get more traffic and customers. I also have depression and it’s not due to any situation, it’s just there.

For those of you that don’t have depression, I explain it other like a migraine, severe headache, or even a very bad upset stomach from eating something bad. You can either wait for it to pass (leaving you useless for a day or even days) or you can push through and try your hardest to make it work. (and just deal)

My depression can actually wipe me out. But because I have clients, I just push through to keep them successful.

I was just curious if there are any other small business owners here that that have depression, anxiety, or other mental illnesses? I know for me, it makes normal everyday business situations, that much harder. But I love what I do so I just push through.

Would love to hear any of your stories or how it impacts you. Thanks and I’m wishing you all good success as we get closer to the end of the year. May next year be even better :)

5 years ago I lost my brother who was 22 years younger than me and got a divorce within 6 months from one another. I went into a severe depression. I worked and went home. I thought I was just getting old. I lived on a cocktail of Adderall and Vicodins just to get through the day. The vicodis would suppress the back pain. The Adderall gave me the energy to show up. Still, every little move, requiring a huge amount of self talk. At work, I would push through, but at home i did the absolute minimal necessary. Eventually, Covid came. I thought 2 weeks off work and stopping the drugs would reset me. It did not. That is when I realized I had depression. My approach to fight depression is not recommended, but I started reading about psychedelic mushrooms helping rewire the brain. I was 50 years old. I had taken mushrooms once before as a teenager. I took a small dose to see how I would react. The next day I went hard. The best day I felt a little better. I started sauna and worked my way up to 4 days a week, 20 minute sessions. Then I started light cardio being careful not to over do it. I met someone. The combination of all slowly got me out of deep depression. I still have days when I don’t feel great, but they are nothing compared to what l had. I hate to sound like one of those guys but a reasonably clean diet, exercise, sauna and a good relationship where you can share with someone how you fee will help IMMENSELY.
