I’m a 29F introvert managing a business, and I’ve worked on this for 5yrs+ without showing my face or meeting >85% of our customers, and quite frankly, much less than a dozen people have asked for any form of facial recognition. However, two of my mentors have recently told me at different times to consider putting a face to the brand. I respect them and hold their counsel dear; however, I do not see any reason why this is necessary. We’ve positioned ourselves well in our service-based industry and our results speak for themselves. I understand that we will need to do some things differently as we grow. But is this part of it? Or am I missing something here?
Depends on what field you’re in.
I’m in a professional services/advisory business and I am the brand. People want to work with a person in my industry. I benefit from showing my face. Your biz may not benefit. What’s your industry?
We are in the gifts concierge space, and from my experience, as long as your products look nice, you deliver on time, and your customer service is good, most clients are satisfied. I’m not sure the pros of showing my face outweigh the cons, considering I like the anonymity. At the same time, I do not want my personality standing in the way of our growth.
