My boss and i are working on gifts to give. right now we have a little over 3 weeks of vacation after you hit your 10 year mark. so im not sure even more vacation is the thing to make people happy. at least at 10 years.

    I feel like some kind of paid vacation would be nice, I don’t know maybe like a nice trip to hawaii with flight and boarding covered or something like that?

    A lot of problems with gift giving at older ages is people have money, so if they really wanted something they would just buy it. Other than that you could give them something commemorative like a plaque or something, but that wouldn’t quite hit the monetary threshold that is also a pretty important aspect when celebrating a milestone.

    A trip or something similar is a nice way to show someone you value you them monetarily and also their commitment to your company by saying ‘hey I see all the hard work you put in, why don’t you take a few extra days off this year’.

      True to a point. There comes a point where cash doesn’t have as much impact. If you are making $50k/yr, a $15,000 raise is going to have a dramatic impact on your quality of life, but if you’re making $150k/yr, a $15,000 raise, isn’t going to change much.

    3 weeks of vacation at 10 years is nothing, FYI. A lot of places start people at 3 weeks these days or they do unlimited. I’d suggest reconsidering adding more vacation at these milestones. Alternatives could be profit-sharing or equity or significant raises.

        Stared a job in 2021 with 35 days PTO no matter the role. So yeah. They also offered 2 months sabbatical every 5 years. You could either take the two months off, convert it to cash, or 50/50.

        More PTO, more cash.

    My wife’s company offers a week paid vacation and $5k to spend on it at 15 years. You plan it they pay you the week and you bring the receipts. Not sure if it’s up front or reimbursement.

    You can spend the money on anything you want as long as it’s for a trip of some kind. Airfare. Hotels. Whatever.

    Three weeks is pitiful you’re lucky you’re retaining people 5 years.
