I feel like having an impressive landing page converts visits to sign-ups very effectively. I’m not a designer, so I can’t build a landing page with that wow factor myself, but I also feel like it’s too early to spend money on a designer when we haven’t even launched yet. What do you guys think?

I’ve been saying this over and over for the longest time now. Before you launch you should make sure your landing page is top notch. Because the better you make it the more it converts. I’ve been educating my clients for a while now and there seems to be a lot of progress. If you have the budget go for it. People are usually afraid to spend money on their landing page because they don’t realise it’s an investment. If you want to I can help you with that even.

You will have multiple different answers, but if you can afford it > go for it, if not, you have some templates to be used and focus on your product

Early on, it’s okay to use a free (or $30) template from something like WebFlow to get running. Will look professional enough to focus more on your message. You can go custom later.

Don’t overthink design right now. In fact, it can be a negative indicator if your B2B especially, to overdo it. Go simple. Make a good product with a clear pitch.

Wow design matters more once ready to scale in B2C, IMO.

There’s tons of great landing page platforms out there you can use. I’m not super up to date on them.

Focus on your audience. Really think about who you will be doing outreach to first and rite the hero section to tell them exactly how you fix their stress/anxiety/pain.

Good design comes after audience and message being nailed. Once you get some conversions optimize it with better design.

As a UX Designer for 18 years. I can tell you that anyone who says it’s not as important or to use these terrible ai tools or software like wix are pretty bad ideas. Including B2B and other areas where people think it’s not as important, are wrong.

Sure you don’t want to go overkill, but for a couple grand you can have a badass design on WordPress in a few days if you can get more of the content prepared.

Fork over a little money for a professional landing page and it will help nearly every metric of the business. Not just conversion rates but a million other factors like making connections, investors, partnerships, reviews, customer satisfaction, brand awareness, how often your site gets shared etc etc etc.
