I’m almost 2 years into my social media management and photography business.

I like the freedom but I already feel unmotivated about my business (this is a typical pattern of my life).

Profit was very good at the beginning, but very decreased now. No question as to why: because I simply don’t put enough effort and work into my practice. I don’t make enough outreach, etc. but I simply find it hard to put myself out there. I feel unmotivated…

Help!

I don’t think u have it in you. Success is for the ones who have discipline, not motivation. It’s better to get good at a 9 to 5 at this point, it’s no shame in it. entrepreneurship is not for everyone, just the same as 9 to 5 is not for everyone.

First should make sure that what will motivate you, to be with the crowd or have your own career, it’s better to find a paper, write all the possible choice, and then write down the pros and cons. Then you know what you shall do.

You either have the fire for entrepreneurship or you don’t. Period. Either fix the problem you identified or go get a job. No problem with either but you will never succeed in business being lazy or unmotivated or worse yet, both .

You can’t have ‘no idea as to why’. It’s your business and you need to know this. Also, the issue seems to be more with your lack of work ethic and less to do with the business itself. So i think you should think about that. Any business gets monotonous in the long-run once the excitement wears off, so I also think you should stop thinking that the business needs to be ‘fun’. As long as you don’t hate it and you’re doing well, you should continue the business.

If you’re asking this question, maybe you should step back for a bit. Not quit, just a hiatus & try to remember why you started it in the first place. If you get that fire/passion back under you while trying to figure it out…keep going.

Are you sure it’s not the other way around? Money dropped off so you started to feel less motivated? I know money motivates me if it’s enough of it.

Good point. I almost can’t pay my rent anymore…

But I also felt this sometimes when I was actually making money. However, I was so new in the game and didn’t have my ideal clients, so I think that was the case back then. Then I had a period where I was super happy and productive, enjoying my lifestyle. And then, now, back again 😬 But money is definitely an important factor!

Is it finding new clients that you’re burned out on, or the backend work you have to do for clients? I’d be open to talking if it’s one of the two (I do both but looking to partner with another digital marketer soon).

Based on the post, how do you have enough cash / income to even qualify for an apartment without W2 + paystubs for income?

What’s your retirement situation looking like without a 401k?

Is it even possible to take vacations since you don’t have PTO?

What are you doing about healthcare on the private market?

Sounds like you would be a in a far better position currently if you found a decent job with benefits.

Lots of abbreviations I don’t know here. But I’ll try to answer my best :)

      • I have an Airbnb side business that covers the basics. But I have been living (pleasures, food, etc.) out of my savings as well.

      • Retirement situation unknown atm. In my country we get xxx monthly as an elderly, but I haven’t saved much up yet

      • I work remote and bring my work with me on vacations

      • Healthcare is free in my country

I ran into a similar problem.

For me I had to really sit down and figure out what I loved and what I hated. I had to outsource as quickly as I could what I hated, and focus on what I loved. This helped me recapture the magic.

The grass isn’t greener. Whatever venture, or job, or career, etc. will have its doldrums. The challenge is to figure out how to ride it out.

There’s moment in life you’ll feel that way. But it’s normal. but that doesn’t mean you should quit. your feeling doesn’t decide how you should act.

Just remember that if you quit today. What else you have left to do ? Going party? smoke cigars? doing drugs? hanging around with friends? you’ll realize it’s not living life . You can’t live life without money or purpose or the next goal. SO put your head down and work .

Have you thought about hiring some staff todo the grunt work and you manage the behind the scenes work? Hire out the aspects you don’t enjoy, do the stuff you do enjoy. Just an idea!
