I run a small business in my country where I import and sell action figures. There’s this client who keeps asking me about how he can do the same thing I do—where to buy, etc. He’s mentioning that his contract with his current job is ending soon and he wants an additional source of income. Tbf this person has always seemed to have low social skills in the way he asks things but what do i know. I would say im the one with the best know-how in the market right now due to my knowledge of apps, automation, etc. My small business is currently my only source of income. What should I tell him? I want to be polite unlike him lol

I flat out refuse to make introductions in almost all cases. I had one person blow up two of my fairly good vendor relationships because I made the introduction and they fucked around the vendor and eventually stiffed them.

Everything is purchased through me with 70-85% gross margin.

Id just say you can grab everything through me and if you purchase in bulk I’ll give you a volume discount. The rest isn’t in scope of the project so I’d just tell them it’s out of scope.

I had one client tried to go around me direct to the vendor and the vendor wouldn’t do business with them because they fucked around with payment too much. I had to come back and oh look my price is just went up.
