Hello Reader,
I have a small business. Recently Square Inc, had deactivated my account and is holding my funds for 90-120 days. I’ve been reading and researching the topic and seems that this company is doing this left and right to so many small business out there. I tried communicating with them and explaining the situation, asking them to refund the transaction. They are refusing to help and are sending copy paste replies, phone calls are not leading anywhere either so I think something has to be done about this.
Things I see people commonly experience,
- account deactivated, funds being held 90-120 but then goes on and on
-funds held, square ask for some online form to be filled but often that does nothing
-lack of customer service willing to help, same copy paste, script response, live in denial sort of thing
-some people eventually got their money back, those who didn’t, some suggested BBB (better business bureau complaints) - My personal experience, that got a manager to reach out to me via email but after few short emails got same old, nothing will change our decision to activate account ( which is not the problem, the problem is you stealing my money). Others have suggested small claim court or letter from a lawyer
I see that many small business owners had waited past the 90-120 days and they have not gotten their funds released or Square is not offering any assistance other than the basic customer service. I am done with this so I will do everything I can to get this resolved and I believe that Square needs to learn a lesson. It’s one thing to hold the funds when needed is different story when you play ignorant and mess with people’s livelihood. I’m sure many will relate.
SO, I want this to stop. But I will need your help out there, so we can all together stand against this! Please if you have any experience whether you found a resolution, a contact point, or knowledge about how to fight a larger company, please share it here. Anything will be helpful! Thank you
If you want it to stop for yourself just cancel them and move to a real credit card processor.
