Hello ! I have a technological idea that could completely reshape people’s lives in the future, making them easier and potentially disrupting the market. I haven’t come across anything similar in sci-fi films, books, or from anyone else. It’s currently an impractical concept but could be feasible with technology 10-20 years from now. However, I have no idea how to evaluate or pursue this idea. Do you have any suggestions on how I could proceed or if there’s anything I can do about it? By the way, I have no technical knowledge in this field; my brain just keep coming up with interesting ideas.

And or maybe write that missing science fiction novel and see if fans connect with the idea.
And if it has anything to do with mining the asteroid belt or starting a “bed and breakfast” on the Moon or Mars, well that’s going to have to wait a while.
Maybe time to work on that STEM degree.
Start by becoming the world’s leading expert around all the ways people experience the problem your idea solves. Then you’ll see clearly what to make, and perhaps discover a path from the current state of things to your “10 years from now” goal.
Or, you might discover it won’t work. But if you approach it from the problem first, you’re likely to discover other compelling needs and ideas along the way
As many have already mentioned, you should be able to track down innovations in both science and engineering that will allow your idea to turn into a viable product/service.
Identify the key components of your idea that are not yet available. Asking about specific materials or devices will not divulge your idea.
I have a friend whom have a knowledge about this.( He’s comp engineer) I’m planning to share it with him. Although I don’t trust him, but I’ve realized that I won’t get anywhere by keeping it to myself.
Initially, when contemplating the idea of a science fiction novel, I thought this aspect might not come to the forefront because I believed it couldn’t be the main focus. However, while discussing with someone, I can think better. I can write a dystopic novel in which, despite the technology being ready for release, powerful corporations attempt to hide this technology from people to oppose individuality and maintain control.
By the way, it’s not related to asteroids. My goal is to transform everyday things used by people into a hallucinative technology without the need for tangible objects. This way, it won’t require money for production, won’t exploit the world’s resources, and everyone can do whatever they want whenever they want, taking control away from large corporations in this field. At least, that’s the positive scenario.
