Hello dear people, my girlfriend started a small graphic design business few months ago in Croatia. And is really struggling with finding new clients. She has a college degree in arts and design and has few years experience working in the field. Really is an expert in Adobe tools and pretty good with front end design and even has some interest in 3D modelling and animation. However, this slow progress with attracting new customers is really taking toll on her and I’m worried for her. I’m writing this in hope to hopefully find some people here in need of some designer to help them with their projects. Writing a sad story repels way more than it attracts. Excitement should be a priority not failing.
1 Focus on only one or two complementary skills (such as product design and front-end development), and create a profile based on these skills on several freelance platforms, such as toptal and others (if she’s really competent, avoid low-cost freelance platforms like Fiverr).
2 Lower your price on the platform for the first few jobs, and if necessary book the first job yourself (with a different profile) to get a certain rating.
3 then, after a few jobs/mission, raise your prices
