Hello i have a small gift shop, and great employees. We are in no way in the millions when it comes to revenue, i think we will have $600k revenue. But being in a very expensive state (CA) that now a lot.

We usually give our employees bonus During xmas time. Last year we gave them $800. This year we are giving them differential pay for the month of December. About $2.50/ per hour on top of their regular pay . We will have occasional fre lunches during the busy times as well.

Is $800 plus differential good enough? Is there something else i can do to make them feel appreciated ? Specially during the busy time

If you want to make them feel appreciated, inexpensive but personalised gifts can be a great hit. I wouldn’t spend more than $50 on it, as if you spend a lot, they would probably just rather the cash. But personalised gifts of appreciation are always a lovely small gesture of kindness, and also reinforce that you care because you’re putting in the effort to learn about their interests or hobbies.

In all honesty a £800 bonus is showing more than enough appreciation and as you seem to be a great person and therefore likely a great manager, you’re showing them way more appreciation than you even realise.

Keep up the good work and I hope the best for you🙌🏾
