Is there a better way than Google Ads? Its just too expensive and the results just aren’t good enough. Anyone know of a better way?

    It’s funny people are upvoting or downvoting comments on this post.

    How is anyone going to know if tiktok or Pinterest or whatever will work you have no idea what this person is selling.

    But yes… Google per click costs are indeed more expensive than 3, 5, 10 years ago. Some services and products can be ridiculously competitive and you have to have great conversion to leads and marketing and sales process to make it the whole thing work.

    Google keeps adding features to help you spend more money unwisely. They also now have reps who email and call you to help convince you to spend more money.

    Yes, negative keywords and turning off all the shit content network and broad matching all helps.

    But no disputing that it’s way more expensive for everything than it used to be.

    I don’t know who your demographic is, but the best advertising platform that I am currently using is with ease TikTok. I recommend trying to advertise your product via there, and potentially reaching out to someone on Fiverr to make an ad if you don’t believe you have the ability to make them.

    With TikTok, I’m getting 12% of people who view my ad to click on my website, 4% of such are converting to sales. These are on roughly 600 dollar campaigns ($10 per 1000 views).

      Calm down. It depends on what you are selling. Tiktok is good but non for every kind of service or product. It depends. You need marketing research to understand the habits of your typical customer and select where to put ads.

      Does TikTok have an audience that converts? I was under the impression that it’s mostly zoomers with the attention span of a squirrel, and not with particularly deep pockets. Seems hard to sell to them depending on the product?

        It purely depends on the product you are selling, but you can indeed target the age range of your choice. The best type of ad is one that kind of “hides” itself with normal videos, but you kind of need to have an understanding of how TikTok works to do it successfully (hence why I said maybe go on Fiverr and get someone to do it for you).

        I personally target 19-25 year olds and see great success personally.

    I would switch to nano influencer marketing. Nano influencers have between 1k-10k followers and often take free stuff in exchange for sponsored content. 5-10 influencers can have amazing results.

    I pay £5 a day and turn over about £200-300. Facebook on the other hand would give me tonnes of traffic with zero sales and cost a fortune compared to Google.

    Google ads has been fantastic for me!

    Google Ads is like using a spray bottle to put out a house fire. You need a large expendable budget to make any kind of impact.

    I’ve had more like with Facebook ads, especially boosting Facebook posts from my business page and then targeting the demographics or areas that would be likely customers. You can tell it’s working in real time because you will see comments, reactions and receive messages based on your boosted post.

      Facebook ads definitely is not better then google ads on small budget.

      You can easily waste money on either without properly set up/using effective ads etc.

      And Facebook ads doesn’t replace google ads, for advertising on purchase intent/specific keywords.

      Facebook ads would be more akin to using a spray bottle to wet a wall.

        I’ve gotten more with a smaller budget on Facebook than with a much larger budget on Google.

    It might be how you are using Google Ads tbh. I’ve ran a campaign before and spent around $330 or so and it yielded me a $4500 website client. Obviously that’s not every time, but you don’t have to have a very large budget, it just makes it easier.

    Google Ads (search in particular) is the best channel for high intent leads + sales, but yes, it can be expensive.

    Two words: Negative keywords

    One of the reasons that Google Ads turns out to be so expensive for many businesses is because they don’t have their targeting set correctly (i.e. who the ads will be shown to.) Negative keywords are a powerful way to make sure that your ads are not showing for things only tangentially related to your business.

    This is especially important if you’re using “broad” matching types. You’ll need to identify and segment your target audience and the keywords they do (and don’t) use - then try a combination of phrase, exact, and negative keywords so you know exactly what your ads are showing for.

    Experiment with different types of targeting, and setup conversion tracking for every ad, so you know where you’re getting your best ROI.
