Thank you 👍 and don’t worry, I still pay plenty of taxes and I personally contributed quite a bit of money into my pension for 15 years. In fact, the city I worked for most likely forced me out in order to eliminate their unfunded liability because I actually fought to keep my job.
Definitely not trying to commit fraud! The worst that can happen is my allowance is deducted because I document all my income 1099

I actually protested the the disability retirement because I claimed I could still work but the city (my employer) forced it. The only requirement is that my new job can’t have similar duties to my old one. The whole situation absolutely blew my mind and honestly, I’d still go back if I was allowed.
The pass through income is exactly what I was concerned about. I’ve been working as a W2 government employee my entire life so it’s all new to me.
And apparently my engineering skills are more valuable in the private world than in the government world so when my friends in the industry heard, they started referring me to their clients and it kinda snowballed from there. I’m truly blessed because I was really depressed and then COVID happened so I think my colleagues were just trying to keep me busy and out of my head at first.
