I think you’ve got it all backwards. Both of you. Your friend/manager should have been upfront. And a request, is just that, a request. Why they felt the need to hide that you were going together is beyond me, since it’s supposedly all covered. Quitting your job over a vacation is very short sighted, especially in this job market.
