In college, one of my stoner friends heard about this “internet money” you can make by “mining” with computers. He wanted to buy 4-5 computers to mine it and split proceeds. Yes, we were high when we pitched it.

You didn’t invent Bitcoin though, you were just trying to mine it. That was an intentional feature of Bitcoin that the creator built in. There were huge companies that invested in mining too.
