Ive been an assistant manager at this place for about 2 months. (I’m the only manager there besides the owner but he owns several other business and doesn’t physically work here) I worked there 4 years ago as well and it wasn’t this horrible at all.

It’s a small açaí bowl shop. We sell fruit bowls, salads, wraps, and poke bowls and we also make fruit bouquets through an outside company.

The owner orders our stock through Instacart which is not viable. You cannot run a restaurant on portions from a regular grocery store. We run out of everything in like two days… I’ve told him this and he doesn’t answer/doesn’t care.

We run out of main ingredients that we can’t just buy at the store and he doesn’t confirm he’s ordered them, doesn’t update me, doesn’t answer when I ask about it.

It’s extremely frustrating and we lose so much business because of it.

Now, payroll. We get paid every two weeks by check or by Zelle. The checks are usually always bouncing… I’ve brought this up to him several times and he doesn’t care and doesn’t try to offer a solution.

Fruit bouquet orders are such a waste of time and so frustrating to do especially since I’m usually alone but again, doesn’t care and doesn’t answer me.

The easy solution is for me to gtfo of there but I’m getting paid pretty good, I can make my own hours, and I have off weekends. It’s been extremely hard for me to find another job that sounds better.

What can I do to make this place better when I have a manager who doesn’t care? How are we supposed to care if the owner doesn’t? Or what should I say to him so maybe he will understand or decide to listen to me?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Get out of there. It’s not your job to go down with a sinking ship while trying to keep it afloat.
