When I get an unsolicited email from another business, I used to always delete it. With the recent uptake in automated tools more people are sending unsolicited b2b email sales sequences. I like to be supportive of other small businesses, but I also don’t want to see a sequence of unwanted emails.

Google workspace says that when you block an email, it marks it as Spam. Does this cause unnecessary harm to a small business by damaging the reputation of their email address? I know some businesses are just buying domains and warming up email addresses and burning them and getting another, but I think about the small business owner trying to do direct outreach to grow their business. Is blocking bad business karma?

Does block do the same amount of damage as ‘report spam?’

What do you think? Block? Delete?

Just block and move on. If it affects their business, they will adopt new strategies. That’s their job to figure out, not yours.
