Hi everyone!
A bit about me: I’ve always had a knack for standardized testing, and throughout high school, I managed to excel in these exams despite not being at the top of my class (30/200). For reference, I achieved a 35 on the ACT and became a National Merit Scholarship Finalist through my PSAT score. Now, I want to leverage that skill to help others navigate the world of tests and academics while providing myself with additional income.
As of today, I have only officially tutored a couple of students in the Miami area at a rate of $50-$75 an hour (both clients were middle school age). I currently attend Florida State University as a first-year and tutor my friends on the side for roughly $15 an hour. Although I could adequately teach several subjects, I believe my strength lies in math.
I am confident that my knowledge and facilitation of learning make me well-suited for tutoring, but I’m a bit lost on how to kickstart this venture. To put it plainly: What are the first steps I should take in establishing my tutoring business? If you’ve started your own tutoring business or have valuable insights on the process, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you in advance.
I would shy away from teaching kids how to take aptitude tests and focus on teaching math skills to kids.
